5. Conclusions

Project partners have built significant capacity and infrastructure to continue the project's improvement efforts. An array of institutional changes has been accomplished, and project leaders are committed to sustaining the partnership long into the future.

Findings to date are informing the work ahead, both within the district and at the university. The project has brought to light and emphasized important challenges and has helped to intensify the commitment to tackle them. Doing a better job of meeting the needs of the district's Native American students is one key area. Improving the preparation of future teachers at the university is another.

Extensive data collection and analysis is continuing. Will the project's impact on student learning become increasingly evident over time? Are there specific components of the effort that are particularly effective? Does this multifaceted, systemic, and collaborative approach continue to demonstrate value? If so, what findings are transferable to other settings?
