Student Impact

  • Pre-post measures of over 1200 students indicate significant increases in student performance in all grades, 2 through 5, with the greatest gains experienced by the younger students. While overall performance increased the standard deviation decreased significantly, signaling a narrowing of the achievement gap.
  • Retention studies to date indicate that students retained over 80% of gains when assessed post-instruction, then again at the end of the year.

Teacher Impact

  • Teacher pre-post results indicate significant increases in teacher knowledge both in mathematics content and in knowledge of math education research.
  • Review of forty-three grades 2-5 teacher logs by expert reviewers indicated that thirty eight of forty-three teachers showed strong growth in making links among curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
